July 17-19th was the 3rd and Final round for the RC Pro Series in Ontario Canada. Tamiya drivers Steve Bortolotti and Tom Wright needed a strong finishes in the Expert Truggy class to take Overall Provincial win. Earlier in the season Bortolotti and Wright attended the 1st R/C Pro Event on a cold and rainy weekend and finished on top with Steve TQ & winning and Tom finishing 3rd.

After missing the 2nd round of the series, it came down to the last round held at Legacy Hobby in Strathroy, Ontario (about 260km’s west of Toronto). The track was hard packed clay and with hard rain storms every night the ruts and bumps increased throughout the weekend.

During qualifying the Tamiya 801XT’s handled the ruts and Bumps in the track and Bortolotti’s fast laps kept him at the top of the time sheets and grabbed the TQ! Wright struggled in the 1st few rounds with set-up and lined up the back of the A main grid in 9th place.

At the start of the race Bortolotti never looked back and checked out from the field. He lead until after the 1st fuel stop, in a very rutted corner (furthest from the pits) the flywheel hit the ground, and shut the motor off! Steve rejoined a lap down and worked his way back through the field getting his lap back and finishing 4th! Wright didn’t have an epic start, getting caught up in opening lap crashes. After the 1st fuel stop he started picking off positions and making his way through the field, finishing in the 3rd position.

After the series points were tallied from the 3 races (1 round drop), Steve Bortolotti was the champion and Tom Wright the 1st runner up!
