Jilles Groskamp was crowned the 2009 Euro Touring Series champion after the title came down to the last round of the last race of the season in Andernach, Germany.
Needing a win in the final round of the A-Main to have a chance at the title, Marc Rheinard was able to sneak past his Tamiya teammate and TQ man Victor Wilck after a slight bobble early in the race, followed by Jilles Groskamp in third. Rheinard would pull away from his teammates to claim the win, and force a tie in the overall points with Groskamp. After having the same amount of wins, and TQ’s, Groskamp was awarded the champion based on a higher average qualifying position through the season. This also made Jilles Groskamp back-to-back ETS champion in 2008 and now in 2009. Tamiya drivers not only finished 1-2-3 in the race, but also 1-2-3 in the series final standings with Groskamp, Rheinard, and Tamiya Junior driver Yannick Pruemper respectively.
