Factory Tamiya racer Viktor Wilke wins the 2012 Reedy Race of Touring Car Champions during Memorial weekend at NorCal Hobbies in Union City, California!

The 2012 Reedy Touring car race of champions was held on Memorial Day weekend at NorCal Hobbies in Union City, California. This year’s race attracted a large number of international racers from Europe and Asia. The traditional heads up Reedy Race format was once again used to determine the best of the best in the Invitational Class with the 6 best results from 8 counting towards the final points. Saturdays’ invitational racing was dominated by new Yokomo driver Hayato Matsuzaki. Matsuzaki took 4 wins on Saturday giving him the overall lead going into Sunday with Jilles Groskamp of Tamiya sitting in second place overall. Sunday’s racing belonged to another veteran Tamiya pilot, Viktor Wilck who started the day with a second to add to his tally of 2 wins the day before. It kept getting better with Viktor taking 3 more wins which would give him the same amount of points as Ronald Volker, but the title would be decided on the number of total wins with Viktor taking it with 5 wins to give the Swedish driver his first major title since the DHI Cup in 2008. Ronald Volker would take 2nd place with Jilles Groskamp in 3rd.
