TRF Blog
Well, I had a fun weekend racing at the Fall Classic, we had great weather and a good turnout. It was nice to have a couple teammates out there with me. With Ryan in China, it was up to Ricky, Brian and myself to represent the TRF team. I had ok results and had a good time. The 801's performed flawlessly.
In the truggy class, I qualified 5th after 3 rounds of qualifying on Saturday. On Sunday, I was all ready to go for the main. I got off to a pretty rough start, getting tangled up in the first corner is never good. As I got going, it was painfully obvious that I made a poor tire choice. I was still able to keep charging and ended up finishing 5th after 20 minutes.
In the buggy class, I qualified dead last. In the first qualifier, I had a bottom shock cap loosen up and leak all the oil out (note to self, put thread lock on the shocks next time). The next two qualifiers I ran into motor issues (new motor, still breaking it in). So Sunday I got to the track extra early to get the motor tuned out. When the main started, as usual, I got hung up. As the race went on, I made my charge to the front. With 2 minutes to go, I moved into 3rd. Comming onto the front strait, another buggy took a tumble right in front of me. I had nowhere to go and clipped him, that put me on my lid. This is where the new motor bit me again, the motor had richend up causing the idle to drop and it flamed out. When we got it refired, I had lost a lap to the leaders. I ended up finishing a disappointing 7th.
I did have a great time and continue to enjoy racing the Tamiya cars.
