The weekend following the first round of the Pro Series gave me no rest. I dove right into another big trophy event at my home track, R/C Madness. The new track layout was challenging and technical. I only ran the 801xt so I could focus on wrenching on my 801x from the previous weekend.
Qualifying was close and competitive. A lot of the Northeast's best drivers were there to compete. I wasn't totally on the top of my game during qualifying. I was having a tough time through some sections being consistent and fast. Overall, I qualified 7th in the A-main.
At the start of the 20 minute A-main, I was able to work through traffic to the front of the pack. The 801xt was hooked up on the Proline M3 Crimefighters I had chosen earlier that morning.I had gained the lead early on in the main. About 10 minutes in, local fast guy and friend Matt "Chewy", gave me a run for my money. We raced wheel to wheel for the lasst 10 minutes of the race. In some sections of the track I was faster and in others he would gain on me. When one of us bobbled on a lap the other would gain the lead. It was a pressing 10 minutes but one of the best races I've had in a while. After one slip up by me at the end of the straight, Chewy gained the lead one me. The last few laps of the race were my fastest as I tryed to reel him in for the lead. Surprisingly my final lap was the fastest I had run the whole race. I ran out of time and ended up in 2nd but was totally satisfyed with such a great race we had and the way the 801xt stayed consistant throughout the main.
