Jilles Groskamp takes Mod TC title at Snowbirds

Tamiya factory driver Jilles Groskamp took TQ and the Win in the TC Modified at the 17th annual Snowbirds Nationals held in Orlando Florida. In qualifying it was Paul Lemieux who set early TQ but was bettered by Jilles in the very last round on Saturday. His new 417 was fast the whole weekend and with some latest set-up changes he was unstoppable in the last round taking TQ by 1 sec over Lemieux. In the final Jilles was chased by Lemieux and Cyrul hard but they never really got the chance to get close. All three ran a flawless race and it was Groskamp who took the win over Paul and Josh. Jilles took the TC Mod title for the second year in a row at Snowbirds.

 

TRF511 Takes 1st Place at the 2011 Buggy Worlds Warm-Up!

The 2011 IFMAR Electric Buggy World Championships Warm-Up event, the precursor for the IFMAR World Championships in July, took place in Vaasa, Finland from May 20th to 22nd and featured an entry list filled with expert 2WD and 4WD buggy drivers from all over the world.

Tamiya Racing Factory (TRF) was once again in the thick of the competition and TRF driver Lee Martin dominated the 4WD class with his TRF511, converting his top qualifying position into an impressive win! In addition, Lee also achieved a respectable 4th place in the 2WD class with his TRF201. With the valuable race data gained from this event, the TRF team is looking foraward to challenging for the 2011 IFMAR World Championships which will take place at the same circuit this summer from July 17th to 24th.

Marc Rheinard Joins Team TRF USA

Tamiya America, inc. is proud to announce its newest member of the 1/8th off-road team. World class on-road ace Marc Rheinard has joined in a partnership with Tamiya America, Inc. to pilot the TRF801X at upcoming 1/8 Off-Road races in both the USA and in Europe for 2011. Marc, a well known 3-time IFMAR ISTC World Champion and Reedy Race Touring Car Champion driver from Germany, has already achieved great success piloting Tamiya’s many revered TRF on-road touring cars. Marc will also be joining forces with fellow team member Lee Martin of Great Britain to take on the world in both the USA and European racing events. Their combined talent will undoubtedly lead the TRF801x to the next level of performance and help our customers maximize their set-up options.
